Do You Know That There Is A Village Where All Are Blind

        

The Blind Village

         It is said that “The eyes are the windows to the soul”. They are important in how we view the world around us. Sight and vision are important because they allow us to connect with our surroundings.

         

        But what if you were blind? Your world will be nothing but darkness. It is like putting a blindfold for the entire life. Visual impairments limit the person’s ability to perform.

         

        But will you believe me if I tell you that there is a village in Mexico where all people even the animals living in the village are blind? I know it is hard to believe but it is the truth.

        

Tiltepec Village

        The name of this village is Tiltepec. It is called the “Blind Village”. This village is located in a dense forest area. About 300 people live in this village. They all belong to Zapotec tribe. Every person living in this village is blind. Not just people, the animals living in this village are also blind.

         

       The villagers believe that the actual reason for their blindness is a tree named Labzuela. According to the villagers the Labzuela tree is cursed and thus it is the reason for their blindness.

         

        The children, who born in this village have normal eyesight. But due to some reason they become totally blind after 7-8 days of their birth.

         

          It made the scientists think. They started an investigation with the help of the local government. What they found was incredibly shocking. The Labzuela tree was not at all responsible for the blindness of the villagers. Then what was the reason?

         

Black Fly

        During their investigation they discovered a poisonous fly in the forests near Tiltepec. These flies are called “Black Fly”. Scientists also found huge number of black flies in the village. According to the scientists these flies carry a poisonous germ. When the fly bites any living thing, the germs spread in victim’s body very quickly. This germ is causing blindness to the human and the animals.

         

       When the government came to know about this problem, they made arrangements to move people to other place. But their attempt was unsuccessful.
