ARE WE EQUAL?

In India girls are always treated as inferior in the society. We live in 21 century where all are screaming for the equal right of man and woman. But do we really get it? As per my opinion the answer is NO.

I am a middle class bengali girl. In our society it is always said that there are some lines which a woman should never cross. But how long we will be bounded in the name of the so called society and the so called rituals?

No matter how much we pretend to give equal rights to woman but the fact is from birth to death a woman do not get equal rights at all. Why after marriage only a girl have to leave her parents? If we talk about real equality why a boy can't leave his parents and settle down in his in law's house? Why always a girl is questioned about her virginity? Why can't we ask a boy that? Is this we called equality?

In India a girl is considered impure if she is having her menstruation, she is not allowed to attain any holy celebration. This picture is even worse in villages. In villages a girl having menstruation is not allowed to live in the house. She has to live in the barn with the cattle.

Although now many laws have come out to protect the women. But NO we are not equal. Most of the women do not come forward because of the fear of society... We live in a society where a woman is not a human being but a toy of a man. He can use her the way he want to and the woman is not allowed to protest. So the question remains the same, are we really equal? I don't think so.......
